Identity, wokeness, cultural appropriation, political correctness – these terms play an important role not only in public debates but also in the reflection and action within social pedagogy and social work. But what do they mean for these fields? To what extent should they guide our work? Inspired by Mithu Sanyal's novel "Identitti," this book engages with these topics. It does not come without confusion, as social pedagogy is not limited to a simple idea but should be understood as a space for conversation and confrontation. The book is a passionate plea to understand social pedagogy as an open-minded approach that remains cautious even towards seemingly moral certainties, in order to engage with the concrete life situations of individuals.
