Kritik der Menschenrechte

The rhetoric of human rights is once again on the rise amid current debates surrounding political correctness, gender issues, transsexuality, mass immigration, and cultural appropriation. But can the ideology of human rights coexist with cultural diversity, or must it destroy it? All these questions, which are extensively discussed in public discourse, ultimately lead to a simple decision. Either one maintains that the fundamental concepts of human rights, despite their historical origins, are truly universal terms. This must now be proven. Or one abandons the idea of universality, which collapses the entire model: If the concept of human rights is purely Western, there can be no doubt that its global generalization represents an external interference, another form of conversion and domination, thus continuing the colonial syndrome.
