Judith

Vetus Latina, or the Old Latin Bible, is the collective term for the large and highly diverse group of Latin biblical texts that have been in use in Christian communities since the 2nd century. With the spread and triumph of Christianity in the Roman Empire, Latin increasingly supplanted Greek as the lingua franca – in North Africa as well as in Spain, England, Gaul, and Germania. This led to the creation of a multitude of quite different, often imprecise, and previously unauthorized Bible translations by the Church, which are scientifically edited in the Vetus Latina edition.
