Product details
This title has been published in English! - Dark forests, green meadows, rushing streams and romantic gorges make up the diverse landscape of the Black Forest in south-west Germany. With its lonely farmsteads, characteristic traditional costumes - such as the famous Bollenhut - or the allemannic carnival, old traditions have been preserved. In addition to its unique natural environment with many healing springs, the region also attracts visitors with its culinary specialities such as Black Forest ham, the cake of the same name and the excellent wines of the Markgräflerland and Ortenau regions. Bordered by the Rhine to the west and the Neckar and Nagold valleys to the east, the Black Forest stretches from Pforzheim in the north to Baden in Switzerland in the south. In addition to dense forests, there are rare upland moors and the highest peak of the German low mountain range, the almost 1,500 metre high Feldberg, rises from the southern Black Forest. The main city of the Black Forest is Freiburg, whose fame as the southernmost city in the country is due to its magnificent cathedral and cosy alleyways as well as its favourable climatic conditions. Over 210 pictures show the Black Forest in all its facets. Four specials report on traditional craftsmanship from the Black Forest clock to the glassblower, the culinary delights, the Alemannic carnival and the characteristic Black Forest house.
