In almost every family, outbursts of anger can be a real challenge. Many of us adults have never learned how to deal with anger in a healthy and non-violent way. However, together we can find a new path and teach our children how to handle it better. Anger is a natural and important emotion that signals to us that our boundaries are being crossed. Even if we do not know or understand the reason for it, it is always there. When anger is suppressed, it often leads to unhealthy behaviors. That is why it is so important to allow anger a healthy and non-violent expression. Children need to feel safe enough to express their anger. It is our responsibility to provide them with that safety and to model good ways of dealing with anger.
