MUSIC IMMEDIATELY TURNS INTO SPACE - a vision that even ancient Greece dreamed of. Thomas Stammer has pursued this artistic leitmotif since his project '9. 81 - Music and Architecture'. In 2001, an encounter with Michael Wertmüller in Los Angeles led to the idea of three-dimensional music visualisation. Almost twenty years later, the artist Albert Oehlen, together with Rainald Götz, provided the impetus for the opera project. This gave rise to the concept of the JETZTSCHEIBE for the performance of the opera D I E at the Ruhrtriennale in September 2021. The JETZTSCHEIBE presents a deliberately heterogeneous collection of texts, emails with initial ideas, concepts, work reports, essays, photographs and graphics, with the basic idea of exploring and shaping the deep layers of time. Overall conception of the opera and the development of the musical visualisation. The second photographic leporello is an artistic realisation of the spatial concept of the opera for the book medium, which presents the light sculptures and the ensemble performance in a 360-degree space. The book JETZTSCHEIBE offers readers an inspiring insight into this fascinating concept and aims to contribute to further developments in music visualisation.
