Product details

This liberated new translation of the Gospels, free from dogmatic constraints, creates a complete reinterpretation of the words of Jesus based on the principles of the Enlightenment. He taught a Buddhism without Buddha, a new ethics instead of the old religion. His life demonstrates liberation from the idea of an Abrahamic creator God, from cultic worship and priestly rule. Therefore, this true Jesus knows neither original sin nor "need for redemption" in the Christian sense. His "Good News" shows how each individual can free themselves from the legalities of the earthly material – the fleshly. Jesus proclaims that people can establish the Kingdom of Heaven for themselves: already here in earthly life and not just in an uncertain afterlife, entirely without heaven, hell, and final judgment. Completely without temple and religion. For the deeper meaning of life is to overcome death. This leads to that "resurrection," which ultimately ends in Nirvana. To be interested in the words of the preacher Jesus of Nazareth, one does not need to believe in God or attend church. It is simply fascinating to follow the thoughts and ideas of this undoubtedly extraordinary personality. It was only decades after his death that Jesus – through a distortion of his words – was declared the Messiah and God by his followers. Kolm's compilation of the four biblical Gospels into a chronological original account shows that Jesus' actions are closer to the worldview of Buddha than to today's Christianity. His translation of ancient sources and their summarization into a coherent and easily readable chronology allows every reader to approach the teachings of Jesus without reservation. The result is a work that also prompts those who believe they know everything about Jesus to reflect on the Christian concept of redemption.
