Product details

In 1968, she traveled to Israel and Jerusalem for the first time and has been there countless times since, living there for extended periods. Today, she is one of the most prominent advocates for German-Jewish reconciliation and cooperation, actively supporting the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and she received the Leo Baeck Prize in 2002: Iris Berben. With her text, we stroll through this city, which is unique historically, culturally, and politically, where Christianity, Islam, and Judaism share a wondrous old town; she describes the smells and sounds, takes us through the souks and bazaars, and allows us to partake in the lives of the people. Tom Krausz has also succumbed to the contradictions and charms of Jerusalem and has been traveling back to the city for many years, where the coexistence of religions and cultures is a daily occurrence. His photographs are spontaneous visual notes.
