This volume, first published in 2002, contains central texts on postcolonial approaches in history and cultural studies. It invites to rethink European history in the context of colonialism and imperialism and to open the view for the interconnections between European and non-European countries. The 2nd, expanded edition has been supplemented with current reference texts of postcolonial theory formation. Furthermore, in a new epilogue, the editors trace research and discussion since the book's publication.
