Jean-Jacques Rousseau : la transparence et l'obstacle

The domain proper to the inner life cannot be eliminated except by abandoning any satisfactory relationship with external reality. Rousseau desires communication and transparency of the curses; but he is frustrated in his expectation and, choosing the opposite route, he accepts and suspects - the obstacle that allows him to replicate himself in passive resignation and in the certainty of his innocence.
