Jazz

"Jazz" is a specialized book that explores the unique art of Henri Matisse. In the last years of his life, when he was often confined to a chair or bed, Matisse developed a simple technique that allowed him to create significant works of art. By cutting dynamic shapes from painted paper, he produced striking images. While working on "Jazz," Matisse used large brushes to jot down notes on construction paper, which he enjoyed and inspired him to combine his reflective thoughts with his images.
