Product details
Away from the mainstream of Italian architecture of their time, the Turin architects Sergio Jaretti (1928-2017) and Elio Luzi (1927-2006) developed a multifaceted body of work of exceptional richness between 1954 and 1974. They presented an organic language of forms that contrasts with the rationalism of Italian modernism and the mass housing of the post-war period, characterized by cheerful poetry. In just two decades, the two realized numerous residential buildings that consistently articulated an interest in spatially plastic facades and deep, diagonally staggered floor plans. With their complex formal references, these works extend far beyond the time of their creation and are as surprising and relevant today as they were then. This monograph presents for the first time the complete works of these two previously under-published architects. Through newly drawn floor plans, images of original designs, a newly conducted photographic documentation, and texts, twelve major residential buildings and private houses designed by Jaretti & Luzi are comprehensively and richly documented.
