Product details

James Licini, born in Zurich in 1937, has been one of the most important Swiss sculptors since the 1970s. Even during his training as a locksmith, he cultivated inspiring contacts with sculptors such as Hans Aeschbacher and Kurt Laurenz Metzler, but after completing his apprenticeship he initially worked in construction. As an artist, Licini is self-taught - his work on construction sites inspired him to create works with double-T beams, angle irons and steel plates, which he purchased directly from the factory and processed into uncompromisingly simple sculptures. On the occasion of James Licini's 80th birthday, this book presents 15 new steel buildings in atmospheric photographs and short texts, which were grouped into an exhibition in the park of the Castello del Sole in Ascona in summer 2017.
