On 9 October 2019, the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur, a right-wing extremist terrorist first attacks the synagogue in Halle (Saale) and then a nearby kebab restaurant. In the course of his attack, he murders two people and tears many others in Halle and Wiedersdorf (Saxony-Anhalt) from their familiar lives forever. In July 2020, he stood trial for his crimes at the Naumburg Higher Regional Court. The trial was extensively documented in the volume Der Halle-Prozess: Mitschriften, published by Spector Books in 2021. The second volume sheds light on aspects and backgrounds of the offence, the shock and the legal proceedings. Interviews, essays and articles by various authors provide access and open up new perspectives: What consideration must be given to the anti-feminism and misogyny of the attack? What is the significance of the practice of not naming the perpetrator? What role do critical remembrance and commemoration play? How do we find forms of practical solidarity against anti-Semitism and racism? Christina Brinkmann is an art historian and editor of the podcast "Halle after the attack". Jakob Schreiter works as an artist and was an activist during the process. Nils Krüger studied communication design in Halle and has been working creatively on the attack since 2019.
