Product details
On October 9, 2019, the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur, a far-right extremist terrorist first attacked the synagogue in Halle (Saale), then a nearby döner kebab shop. During his attack, he murdered two people and forever tore many others in Halle and Wiedersdorf (Saxony-Anhalt) from their familiar lives. As of July 2020, he stands trial at the Higher Regional Court of Naumburg for his actions. The court proceedings have been extensively documented in the 2021 publication "The Halle Trial: Transcripts" by Spector Books. The second volume sheds light on aspects and backgrounds of the crime, the impact, and the legal process. Interviews, essays, and scholarly contributions from various authors provide insights and open up perspectives: What consideration must be given to the antifeminism and misogyny of the attack? What significance does the practice of not naming the perpetrator hold? What role do critical remembrance and commemoration play? How can we find forms of practical solidarity against anti-Semitism and racism? Christina Brinkmann is an art scholar and serves as the editor of the podcast "Halle After the Attack." Jakob Schreiter works as an artist and has actively accompanied the trial from an activist standpoint. Nils Krüger studied communication design in Halle and has been artistically engaging with the crime since 2019. Texts by: Reem A., Rebecca Blady, Kristin Pietrzyk, Ilil Friedmann, Linus Pook, Karolin Schwarz, Eike Sanders, Arne Schmitt, Klaus Theweleit, Rolf Pohl, Sabrina Slipchenko, Matthias Lorenz, Initiative Critical Remembrance Erlangen, Aftax Ibrahim.
