For over 40 years, the Yearbook of Poetry has provided insight into contemporary German-language poetry and its developments and branches. For the 34th edition, Christoph Buchwald has enlisted the help of the award-winning poet and translator Dagmara Kraus as co-editor. Together, they have taken on the task of curating a best-of selection from all submissions and organizing the poems into thematic chapters. Notably this year is the increase in poems featuring dystopian imagery, which can be read as criticism of or commentary on the shortcomings of the present. Those who want to know how we feel in our language and our current moment will find much that is inspiring, surprising, and thought-provoking in the 34th Yearbook of Poetry. The volume is completed by a bibliography of the latest published poetry collections.
