Product details
For many years, various crisis points have intensified: the climate crisis, economic crises, an explosive increase in inequalities, global health crises, crises of democracy and governance, crises of gender relations and patriarchy, ideological and normative decay, among others. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russian aggression against Ukraine, and global inflation, these crises are increasingly intertwining and gaining new momentum.
The escalation and overlap of these crisis developments is also reflected in critical societal debates. Concepts such as the multiple crisis or polycrisis attempt to capture the current situation conceptually and analytically. The analysis of what is happening today is the focus of the first part of the yearbook.
When crises accumulate and tower before us, it often feels paralyzing, and hope for positive change diminishes. The second part of the yearbook addresses how we can, individually and collectively, still take hopeful action despite everything. What human and worldviews can we build upon? Which outdated notions need to be overcome, what can we connect with, and from what can we draw hope?
Building on this, the third part of the yearbook is dedicated to progressive responses to the crisis(es): How can we achieve a socio-ecological transformation of society and shape it democratically—especially in a time of multiplying, deepening, and totalizing crises?.
