Jacobusweg Lüneburger Heide

The 433 km long Jacobus Trail, while not part of the official network of Camino routes, offers a peaceful pilgrimage through one of the most beautiful landscapes in northern Germany, with mostly good hiking infrastructure. The trail begins at the St. Jakobi Pilgrim Church in Hamburg and leads to Undeloh, from where it winds through the Lüneburg Heath around the Wilseder Berg. In Soltau, the Jacobus Trail splits into a western and an eastern variant.

The western variant goes through Bad Fallingbostel to Walsrode and then over Krelingen and the Aller lowlands to the Mariensee Monastery. The eastern variant takes a large detour to the Südheide Nature Park, following much of the well-known Heidschnuckenweg. It passes through Celle and along the Aller River before reconnecting with the western route just before the Mariensee Monastery.

The book describes both variants for hikers and cyclists, providing information on sights, important pilgrimage points, as well as accommodation, dining, and shopping options. The route descriptions are complemented by maps, elevation profiles, and downloadable GPS tracks.
