J. S. Bach: Weihnachtsoratorium, Teile I-III

Bach's Christmas Oratorio has been published as a scholarly edition for practical use within the framework of the Stuttgart Bach Editions. The foundation of the edition is Bach's autograph score and the original parts. The conducting score includes a concise critical report as an appendix, which provides information about the sources and their readings, discusses them in more detail if necessary, and particularly offers new solutions in articulation matters that differ from previous editions. The representative linen-bound volume is complemented by a smaller version as a study score, as well as by choral scores, piano reductions (one version with German and English lyrics, and another version exclusively in German), an XL piano reduction in German, and orchestral parts. In the orchestral material, the coordination of recitative and instrumental accompaniment is facilitated by a thoughtful vocal system, and in the parts that pause during the secco recitatives, the connection to the following movement is ensured by the reproduction of the recitative's conclusion in cue notes.
