Product details

Clemens Brentano (1778-1842) is one of the most important representatives of Heidelberg Romanticism, alongside Achim von Arnim, with whom he published the collection of folk songs 'Des Knaben Wunderhorn'. He was married to the writer Sophie Mereau, and another marriage ended in failure. Although he was a significant figure in the literary scene during his lifetime, most of his works were published posthumously. The present volume contains some of Brentano's most famous fairy tales, including 'Gockel und Hinkel' and 'The Tale of Baron von Hüpfenstich', which are mostly based on Italian sources.
