Italienische, französische und spanische Gemälde

The collection of the Painting Gallery at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna includes nearly 200 works from the Italian, French, and Spanish schools, dating from the late 14th to the late 18th century. This includes gold-ground and panel paintings by Antonio da Fabriano, Giovanni di Paolo, and Botticelli, as well as oil paintings by Titian, Claude Lorrain, and Murillo, and works by Tiepolo, Subleyras, Loutherbourg, and Guardi. This extensively illustrated book not only presents the results of art historical investigations of the works but also the findings from corresponding interdisciplinary scientific research. These are reflected in numerous accompanying images taken using X-ray and infrared technology, produced as part of the Institute for Technology and Natural Sciences in Art at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
