Product details
The increasing digitalization of all areas of life means that IT is transforming from a support function to a central value creation process for companies. This necessitates that IT operates according to principles similar to those of the core processes of the companies. In addition to the previous requirements for stability, security, cost-effective, and reliable operations, a high level of innovation capability and rapid adaptability is expected. The consequences are already visible today in many IT organizations:
- Innovative applications of artificial intelligence and self-learning systems are being used as enablers for automation.
- Agile methodologies from software development are being adopted in IT project management, operations, and support. To ensure IT quality and adaptability, existing departmental boundaries are being questioned. Many IT organizations are overcoming the departmental barriers between development (Dev) and operations (Ops) through DevOps.
- Traditional architectures and operating models are being replaced by cloud-based solutions. This involves structural and procedural regulations for the provision and management of cloud solutions and services.
- While the importance of a highly available, flexible IT operation is increasing, its tasks and responsibilities are fundamentally changing: the actual operation of IT is becoming less prominent. There is a demand for the management of providers and partners in a multi-sourcing environment.
In this context, the question arises to what extent established development and operational frameworks can be utilized to meet these demands.
