Product details
The symposium 'Islamic and Arab Law as a Problem of Legal Application' aims to highlight the difficulties that arise when local legal practitioners must apply foreign legal norms from countries with different cultural, religious, and legal backgrounds. The collected contributions primarily address issues of nationality law, international procedural law, and private law, as well as Islamic and Arab commercial, economic, banking, and family law. Professor Emeritus Omaia Elwan, born in 1932 in Cairo, studied in Cairo, Paris, and Rennes. He was an assistant in Cairo and earned his doctorate in 1962 in Heidelberg on the topic of representation. From 1964, he headed the Department of Law for Developing Countries at the Heidelberg Institute for Foreign and International Private and Economic Law and served as academic director in retirement as well as Professor Emeritus at the Faculty of Law in Cairo.
