The textbook defines the objectives of investment and financial policy in companies and explains the fundamentals and methods of investment calculation, financing, and financial derivatives in a simple and understandable way. Classical and new instruments are systematically presented, analyzed, and evaluated. Examples and exercises with suggested solutions complement the discussions. For the 9th edition, the work has been completely updated and expanded with a chapter on the risk measurement metric Value at Risk. This chapter introduces and explains the methods commonly used in practice to calculate Value at Risk, namely the variance-covariance approach, historical simulation, and Monte Carlo simulation.
