Inventar der Mamalia-Fauna im klassifizierten Wald von Monts-Kouffé

The forest of Monts Kouffé is protected and benefits from a participatory management plan, but it is still exposed to significant anthropogenic pressures. The mammal fauna is not spared from this anthropogenic pressure. This study aims to contribute to the preservation of the animal resources of this forest in the Manigri area. The Braun-Blanquet method was used to collect phytoecological data for characterizing the habitat of the mammals. Seven linear transects, each walked twice, and one U-shaped transect measuring eight kilometers in length were surveyed to inventory the fauna and the threats to their habitat. A total of 25 mammal species from 19 families were identified. The most represented families are the Cercopithecidae with 6 species and the Pteropodidae with 2 species. Furthermore, logging, poaching, and overgrazing are the main reasons for the disappearance of mammals and their habitats. Given this deterioration, effective conservation measures are necessary.
