From a multidisciplinary perspective, it outlines the verbal, cognitive and interactive skills of children in their development, presents methodological backgrounds of surveys and shows implications for the use of interviews and group discussions with children. The aim is to convey knowledge about the prerequisites for interviewing children in order to be able to make informed and well-founded decisions for the respective research project in all phases of the empirical research process.
