The present 11th edition of "International Economics - Theory and Politics of Foreign Trade" appears at a time when we are more aware than ever of the significant influence of the global economy on the fate, politics, and political debates of every country. Even years after the global financial crisis, the world economy still suffers from weak growth and the stagnant rise in wages and salaries for many workers. In Europe, the project of monetary union faces ongoing pressures, and the European Union is under strain since the British voted to leave the EU in a referendum, while anti-immigration sentiments are spreading across Europe. The content of this work has been carefully updated, and several chapters have been thoroughly revised. Additionally, the author examines the impact of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) on global automobile production and the consequences of a potential withdrawal from the agreement. He describes how the United States has managed to keep domestic sugar prices significantly above the world price level in recent years and discusses the role of negative interest rates in unconventional monetary policy. Furthermore, the increasingly important role that the economic systems of emerging markets play in global economic growth is highlighted.
