Internationale Soziale Arbeit

Social work is still often understood too narrowly as a national project. This introductory book outlines international interconnections, global challenges, and transnational perspectives of social work. The history of social work is usually presented as a narrative tied to specific nation-states. However, it can also be analyzed as a cross-border project in which international interconnections hold identity-forming significance. In this book, social work is introduced as an actor in a "global social policy," and central methodological requirements for internationally comparative social work are outlined. Current examples illustrate how social work can position itself within these interconnections.
