The practical course presented here is based on the one by S. Hünig, G. Märkl and J. Sauer from 1979. integrated means that it is not a classic cookbook. All aspects that have to be considered when experimenting in uncharted scientific territory are already integrated into the practical course. Spectroscopy, discussion of the relevant spectra with regard to several conceivable reaction products, theoretical penetration of the various reaction sequences, and finally formulation of the reaction mechanisms The I.O.C. practical course is structured according to reaction types, and the experiments in the subchapters are - as far as possible - linked together in a way that leads to the reaction mechanism.
