Today, as in the past, the necessity for the unification of Africa is a pressing issue in light of the current international context. To turn this long-held aspiration into reality, the African passport introduced in 2016 is an indispensable tool. In fact, this federative instrument is essentially a true catalyst for the process of bottom-up African continental integration. This occurs not only by facilitating the free movement of people within Africa but also by stimulating the continent's economy. However, certain prerequisites must be met by all parties involved—primarily the African states—so that the expected benefits can live up to the promises of their potential.
