Instagram und YouTube der (Pre-) Teens

Children and teenagers regularly use social media platforms in various ways: their own Instagram profile, a less private YouTube channel, and self-staged clips with the video and music app TikTok. They also follow numerous influencers and stay in touch with their friends through these apps. The range of social media platforms provides 9 to 16-year-olds with a large playground and a space for experimentation and orientation on their journey to adulthood. The contributions presented here offer suggestions for perceiving and pedagogically supporting the digital action spaces and media cultures of (pre-)teens. This is because diverse developmental tasks can be connected with digital activities: self-efficacy, self-expression, and the exploration and development of identity and gender roles, as well as processes of separation.
