Grumpy Berliner woman who is a small-town Northerner with a passion for yoga and handicrafts, the other: Apart from a mutual deep dislike, Edith Scholz and Christel Jacobi have nothing in common. Nevertheless, the two 70-year-olds embark on an adventure that takes them across Germany. "To be free means to be able to be alone," is the conviction of the widowed Edith Scholz, who is quite content in her Berlin apartment with a cigarette and the occasional glass of schnapps. However, a fall disrupts her plans - Mrs. Scholz must go to rehab in Usedom. What could essentially be quite relaxing is complicated by Christel Jacobi, her overly friendly and esoteric roommate: "We old ladies - we have to stick together," she insists, showering the grumpy Mrs. Scholz with kindness and managing to break through her defenses.
