Adoption: It's time to listen to the child! Ralf Lengen links his life story with the voices of adoptees and foster children from all over the world for "Ins neues Leben getreten!". The book is published as part of the Inschluss® project with drawings for the heart. Adoption is the only trauma where those affected are expected to be grateful, writes Nancy Verrier. The topic is usually presented from the parents' point of view and seen accordingly. The fact that the feelings of foster children and adoptees are often minimised in the process has been of great personal concern to Ralf Lengen. He finally wants to give foster children and adoptees a voice. In this book, he shares his own experiences in a multi-voiced collage. Children and adults from all over the world have their say, including those affected and experts, well-known people such as James Brown, Ingrid Bergman or Edgar Allan Poe and also literary figures such as Oedipus or Heidi. Topics include: Repression, memory gap, exclusion, renunciation of grief, shame, mother love, brokenness. The book is aimed at adopted and foster children and their families as well as workers in kindergarten, school, youth welfare office, family support, psychology, therapy and pastoral care.
