In 1945, a Gnostic library was discovered in a cave in Upper Egypt, including a document that should have sparked a revolution in Christianity: the 114 words of Jesus, recorded at the beginning of our era by the Apostle Thomas, the long-lost "Gospel of Thomas."

In this document, a different Jesus speaks than in the New Testament. Here we can hear the voice of the uncompromising rebel: "I have cast fire upon the world, and behold, I guard it until it blazes."

Is it any wonder that this spectacular find was ignored by the churches? Although the Gospel of Thomas is the source from which the evangelists Matthew, Mark, and Luke drew, it found no place in the official Bible. For a long time, it was banned as a heretical gospel, its author and authenticity questioned.
