In the foreword, Veronika König writes the following about this positive book regarding her life with ME/CFS: "As a trained coach, I am a good running analyst, but I have never run a marathon myself. I was a walker - a very fast walker. Whenever I had the time, I slipped into my sneakers and marched my 8.5 km route. Several times a week, often together with others, sometimes alone. On these paths, I pondered ideas, solved problems, set goals and plans, or simply let go for a while. I am in my mid-fifties and now stand before the ruins of my life. I have always been a 'doer.' Problems presented challenges to me. Once an idea was born, I usually implemented it right away, or at least when the time was right. Now I am figuring out how to get through my day without crashing. I have ME/CFS, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. The name is not entirely accurate - more on that later. On the day I decided to write this book, I marked the first anniversary of my last working day. A year and a week ago, I was just moving from my office to the neighboring office. I was making room for a new employee. I sorted through my things that had accumulated over the years. I joked that this would be my last move and that I would retire in this office - in 9 years - so I might as well declutter thoroughly. A few days later, on a Wednesday, I went to work in the morning, not knowing that it would be my last working day. That day, I struggled with tears all day, as I was practically already unable to work, but I didn't know what was happening to me. I had been feeling increasingly unwell for some time until that day culminated in a complete breakdown...".
