In the Shadow of the Witches - Witch Ring - Do not hunt what you cannot kill. One October evening, Grandmother Hoffmann tells her grandchildren the story of the Witch Ring, an ancient prophecy from long ago that has almost completely been forgotten. She gives them a strange tea to drink and warns them about the deep forests of the Harz, which begin right at their doorstep. What initially seems to the children like just another story from their grandmother is, however, of deep concern to Gerda Hoffmann, as she recognizes the signs in her cards and fears that the story is beginning to repeat itself. At the same time, Commissioner Joachim Breitner is pondering the mysterious disappearance of two children and is utterly perplexed when a third goes missing. A tip from his young colleague Anita leads him to the old mill where Mrs. Hoffmann lives. But what he finds there remains uncertain.
