Ulrike Bail, born in Metzingen (Germany), studied Protestant theology and German studies. She earned her doctorate and habilitation at Ruhr University Bochum. Since 2005, she has been living in Luxembourg and working as a writer. She has authored several volumes of poetry, the latest being "wie viele faden tief," inspired by the art of sewing, and "statt einer ankunft," which focuses on the bus and tram stops in the city of Luxembourg. Her poetry has received multiple awards. In 2021, she was awarded the prestigious Prix Servais, given for the most significant literary work of the previous year. Some of her poems have been translated into French, English, Dutch, Russian, and Arabic.
