Product details

The book derives the 'cumbersome' term intersectionality in an 'understandable' way, because the discussion around it has been enjoying a lot of attention for a few years now. It is the realisation that inequality and discrimination of people cannot only be explained one-dimensionally. They are closely interwoven with different social realities that produce and solidify inequality. These are, among others, racist classifications of people, classifications of physical ability, sexual orientation and social origin. This knowledge has found expression in the discussion about intersectionality. The authors show where the term intersectionality comes from and how it is used in different contexts. Finally, using the example of everyday discrimination, the intersectional multi-level approach is presented as a socio-critical analysis. To show that this approach is relevant for social change, there is a vision at the end of the book. It aims to show that unseen, poorly paid or unpaid work can be scandalised and also changed by means of an intersectional perspective.
