Economic policy with goals and plans should be based on rigorous theoretical foundations and rely on reliable empirical evidence. For research to have an impact, researchers must translate the latest findings into accessible language so that they can reach a broad, non-specialized audience. Voters and policymakers can only benefit from research results if they are presented in non-technical language. The tasks of universities include research, teaching, and informing the public. In the 'Next Generation' project, the best master's students from the University of St. Gallen summarize policy-relevant findings from economic research in an accessible manner. With this 'Readers Digest' of economics, they make an important contribution to the university's third mission.
