Circuits and consequences of digital consumer cultureAram Bartholl (born 1972 in Bremen, lives and works in Berlin) deals with conflicts of digitality and automation in his performative interventions, sculptures and workshops and questions our current media behaviour. By translating surveillance, data security and dependence on technology through social networks and consumer channels into spatial settings, he puts the gaps, contradictions and absurdities of our everyday digital lives up for discussion. In his most recent project, he transformed the Kunsthalle Osnabrück into a walk-in recycling centre for goods, electronic devices and digital technologies.

By translating surveillance, data security, or the dependency of social networks and channels of consumption on technology into objects and arrangements in three dimensions, he prompts discussions about the gaps, contradictions, and absurdities of our digital everyday lives. In his most recent project, he transformed Kunsthalle Osnabrück into an immersive recycling yard for commodities, electronic devices, and digital technologies.
