Idealismus und sprachanalytische Philosophie

Ludwig Wittgenstein engaged with idealism and its extreme form of solipsism throughout his entire period of work. The subject of the so-called manuscript The Big Typescript is idealism. It contains a chapter on idealism with the following seven sections: The first section discusses the representation of the immediately perceived. The topic is introduced with the question of the role of memory in the realm of experience. The title of the second section consists of the following quote marked by quotation marks: “Experience in the present moment, the actual reality.” In the third section, the author addresses the central theme of idealism. The next section is again defined by quotation marks and is titled: “Having pains.” The fifth section deals with the time of memory. In the sixth section, the deictic or ostensive adverbs in quotation marks “here” and “now” are examined. Finally, in the seventh section, Wittgenstein engages with concepts such as “color, experience, etc.” and treats them as formal concepts. This volume addresses and analyzes the most relevant theses from these sections.
