New Yorker Diana O'Toole leaves nothing to chance - especially not her future. She has meticulously planned every detail of her life, and the next big step is just around the corner: during their trip to the Galapagos Islands, her boyfriend Finn is going to propose to her. But just before their departure, a virus breaks out in the city, and Finn is needed as a doctor at his hospital. Reluctantly, Diana sets off alone and finds an island in a state of emergency.
