Ich weiss ein Haus am Wasser

"It is wonderful to lie on the water and look back at our little house," Hans Fallada wrote in a letter to his sister Elisabeth in 1934. And indeed, the years on the estate in Carwitz on the lake of the same name were to become the happiest, fullest and most creative in the life of the world-famous author, the family father and farmer. Here "I had one of the most beautiful, quietest spots on earth ...", he wrote in the autobiographical work "Heute bei uns zu Haus". These and many other praises of Mecklenburg-Strelitz inspired watercolourist Hans-Jürgen Gaudeck to explore Fallada Land, to learn to love it and to capture its beauty, magic and atmosphere on paper.
