'Ich spreche Deutsch, ich denke aber Albanisch': Deutsch-albanische Sprachbiographien

This book provides a brief overview of the language-biographical studies published in Germany, which are situated within the interdisciplinary field of sociolinguistics and can utilize methods of empirical social research. Based on the collected material from 23 interviews with Albanian-speaking individuals of various ages and educational backgrounds from Kosovo, insights are gained into the individual and collective experiences, events, interactions, and actions accumulated throughout life. The moments and processes of recollection are emotionally and cognitively driven, as well as socially determined. They are reconstructed in a narrative form and provide information about their language(s) in general, their worldview, thought processes, socialization, and cultural belonging. The interviewees are brought to voice through selected excerpts from the interviews, sharing their individual stories connected to language.
