Ich nannte ihn Krawatte

Milena Michiko Flašar needs only a few carefully chosen words to bring her characters to life, and just a few scenes to tell entire destinies. A young man leaves his room, where he has apparently been locked away for a long time, and feels his way through a foreign world. A bench in the park becomes his refuge and home. There, he opens his eyes, begins to speak, and shares his memories with a complete stranger. The other man is many years older, a salaryman employed in an office like thousands of others. He, in turn, recounts, over days and weeks, scenes from a life filled with fear and powerlessness, hope and happiness. Both are outsiders who cannot withstand the pressure to perform and who become active only in their refusal. From the experience that affection can be wrapped in food, that sorrow can be hidden in laughter, and that friendships are possible, they strengthen each other for a final farewell and a new beginning.
