Karl-Josef Kuschel is a German scholar and theologian. For many years he researched and taught as a professor of theology of culture and interreligious dialogue in Tübingen. His publications are numerous and reflect the two passions of his academic life. The first: dialogue with other religions, Judaism and Islam, but also the religions of Asia. The second: the search for traces of religion in literature and its authors. A volume of conversations with the journalist Matthias Drobinski is being published to mark his 75th birthday. In it, Karl-Josef Kuschel tells of the formative encounters of his life - with people, books and places on his journeys into the world of religions and literatures. As a contemporary witness, he provides insights into German history after 1968, but also into personal and private matters. His struggle in the confrontation with the religious critique of modernity is at the same time an extraordinary analysis of the "religious situation" of our time.
