Few can imagine what it feels like to suddenly lose all hearing. Veronika Wolter can. A meningitis infection ended her life as a normal child. The world around her grew quieter and eventually fell silent. But she did not. She was not ready to accept this fate. So she fought. She became an ear doctor. And she regained her hearing with a cochlear implant.

Today, Dr. med. Veronika Wolter leads the Helios Hearing Clinic in Munich. She is Germany's first deaf chief physician in an acute care hospital. She has made it her mission to help others achieve the best possible hearing and escape from silence.
