Product details
The Polish author Marian Pankowski (1919-2011) and his literary contribution to the Holocaust discourse are unfortunately still little known to the German-speaking public. With her current study, Iris Bauer contributes to ensuring that Pankowski receives greater attention here as well. Pankowski's approach to history, his personal experiences, and how they are literary expressed in his narratives through the broad perspective of reflection, the inclusion of marginality, and a language about the Holocaust that speaks to everyone, are particularly compelling. His narrative "Nie ma Zydówki" can be read as the essence of his engagement with the Holocaust and seen as a new stage in the controversial processing of writing about the Holocaust. Furthermore, the text impresses with its relevance in the here and now of our present.
