Praxis der Schemapädagogik

Schema pedagogy is a new approach to education. It includes innovative possibilities and methods for psychosocial and social educational fields. Schema pedagogy assumes that clients' psychosocial problems in their interactions with themselves and others are primarily caused by detrimental inner psychological patterns, or schemas. Schema educators establish a special complementary relationship, collaboratively addressing detrimental personality facets and schema modes with the client, and support them in transferring the developed solutions into everyday life, thereby aiming to permanently change dysfunctional patterns. Marcus Damm presents the foundations of schema pedagogy: cognitive therapy, clarification-oriented psychotherapy, and schema therapy, and describes its potential for psychosocial fields such as school social work, couple counseling, and social work.
