Eulenspiegel

This edition of the Eulenspiegel tales, presented in a modern translation, conveys the essence of the trickster and is equipped with new titles carefully tailored to the content of its stories. Its aim is to highlight the aspect of the trickster, a form of the animus, which has not received the attention it deserves in relation to Till Eulenspiegel. The principle of the translation by Roland Lukner, based on the Strasbourg print of 1515, is to dress the stories in the language of our time, thereby bringing them closer to our contemporary imagination without altering their content even slightly. This new edition is thus a successful attempt to bring a once-forgotten yet brilliant work of European thought back into the light of our time.
